Make a cup of perfect Pearl Milk Tea

Bubble Tea, also known as boba tea or pearl tea, is a popular Taiwanese tea-based drink that features chewy tapioca pearls. Here is a step-by-step guide to making a perfect bubble pearl tea:
Pearl Milk Tea

Ingredients for bubble pearl tea:



  • Boil 6 cups (1,400cc) of water in a large pot on high heat.
  • Add 1 (200g) cup of tapioca pearls to the boiling water and stir gently to prevent them from sticking together.
  • Cook the tapioca pearls for 25-30 minutes or until they are soft and chewy.
  • Turn off the heat and steam it for 30 minutes.
  • Drain the tapioca pearls using a strainer and rinse them with cold water to remove excess starch.
  • Stir the 2 tablespoons of Brown sugar syrup /powder/sugar/honey in the tapioca pearls.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of Loose-leaf black tea (80g) to a separate pot and brew in 2,500cc boiling water.
  • Steep the tea for 10-12 minutes, then strain the loose-leaf tea.

How to brew your tea foe bubble tea

  • Add sugar, brown sugar or honey to the tea and stir until dissolved. You can adjust the sweetness to your liking.
  • Let the tea cool down for a 5-10 minutes.
  • Add ice cubes to a large glass or plastic cup.
  • Pour the tea over the ice cubes.
  • Add the tapioca pearls to the cup.
  • Add milk or cream (optional) to the tea and stir.
